Kikongoma

It is narrated that Chief Munyigumba had either intended his chief-dom to be inherited by his brother, Muhalwike or to be divided between his sons Muhenga and Chief Mkwawa, but his plans were disrupted by Mwamubambe, an important subordinate ruler of Nyamwezi origin who had married one of Chief Munyigumba daughters.Soon after Chief Munyigumba death, he seized power by killing some of the possible heirs. A natural bridge where Chief Mkwawa's mother drowned herself into the Ruaha river.

Chief Mkwawa fled to Ugogo and Mwamubambe ruled Uhehe. Chief Mkwawa later returned and organized an uprising that kicked out the then ruler,Mwamubambe. Mwamubambe and many of his forces were killed. This battle took place at Lundamatwe meaning "the place where many heads are piled up". This took place around 1879-1881.

Among those who were supposed to be killed by Mwamubambe was Chief Mkwawa's mother Sengimba, but she managed to escape and drowned herself into the Ruaha river by jumping through a natural bridge of Kikongoma.
