Jaclyn’s new ‘Gemilang’ album sells 7,000 copies
“It’s been accepted really well and that makes me happy. It appeals to everyone out there and that’s the best thing,” Jaclyn said at the official launching of the album yesterday.
Aziana Ali, general manager of international and Malay division for Sony BMG Music that signed on Jaclyn, said sales had been better than expected, given the fact that Jaclyn was a new artiste and the current slump that the music industry was facing.
The recording company now expects the album to go platinum, achieving sales of at least 25,000 copies.
Jaclyn, popularly known as Jac, became the first Malaysian Idol in October in the reality talent competition run by 8TV.
Her prizes included a recording contract with Sony BMG and the chance to compete against Idols from across the globe in the World Idol competition.
However, recent reports revealed that the global competition might not take place. 8TV chief operating officer Ahmad Izham clarified that negotiations were still ongoing.
“It’s just a matter of when and where,” he added.
