Port of Spain, Trinidad, Nov. 23: (Reuters):

CUBA scored a surprise 3-1 victory over Honduras here today when the 1971 CONCACAF Senior Soccer Championship finals continued at Queens Park Oval.

The Cubans led 2-0 at half time with goals from Piedra (10 minutes) and Roldan (25 minutes).

Skipper Verdecia hammered home the third in the 59th minute. Jorge Bran scored Honduras' lone goal in the 70th minute.

Honduras, who held host country Trinidad and Tobago to a 1-1 draw on Sunday night, were unlucky not to earn at least a share of the points.

For the entire second half they bombarded their opponents, who played with ten men — Garces was ordered off in the 30th minute — but were only able to find the net on the one occasion.

Hernandez, the hard-working Cuban link, played a big hand in his team's first two goals.

From a perfect centre Piedra nodded past a flatfooted Collins, the Honduras goal keeper, for Cuba's first goal.

Herandez then found Roldan from a free kick, and Roldan hammered it home.

Despite these two setbacks, Honduras still carried the game to the Cubans, but lacked punch in their attack.

On numerous occasions they split the Cuban defence wide open, but then either kicked wide or found Reinoso, the Cuban goalie, thwarting them with some fine saves.

Honduras had a piece of really bad luck when Matamoros muffed a penalty in the 49th minute.
