Patravadi theatre presents Chalawan The Likay Musical

Likay is an old form of Thai musical theater. Patravadi has modernized Likay in a new musical production Chalawan a legendary crocodile prince who has turned human and lived in a crystal cave with his 2 wives.
Human beings have wisdom and ability to control one's desire. By having the look of human being but not able to control the desire, then one is no different than animals. The exciting story of Prince Chalawan is presented in Likay style with Thai classical songs, dance and music, choreographed in Thai classical dance with modern techniques to suit the crocodile characters by the team of Patravadi Theater whom for many years have achieved in reviving the old Thai performing arts and literature into today entertainment.
Home for performing artists in Thailand, the name Patravadi is synonymous with the performing arts First and foremost, its owner is Patravadi Mejudhon, a dynamic stage performer, scriptwriter and theater director-producer, who for more than three decades, has been a pioneering force in the local arts scene. In 1992, Patravadi founded an independent theater.
The theatre is located on the western side of the famous Chao Phraya River in one of the city's oldest neighborhoods. The historical setting, opposite the river from the Grand Palace and adjacent to the Royal Temple Wat Rakang creates the perfect backdrop of Patravadi theatre's unique fusion of traditional Thai and International styles.
Chalawan, the Thai folk tale about the crocodile prince in Likay musical style will preview on 31st December 2005 and will continue on the main stage every Saturday at 7.30 pm in the year 2006 until the end of March.
