Fabio Capello gets new Vauxhall Insignia

England football manager Fabio Capello has taken delivery of a new Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer.

The deal is part of Vauxhall’s sponsorship of the English FA, which also sees the Vauxhall logo featured on the England player’s football shirts.

It’s not the first Vauxhall for Capello: he’s been using one for around five months, revealed the firm.

The Insignia Sports Tourer Elite Capello’s just taken delivery of is, however, the first one he’s been able to choose himself, to his own specification.

Fabio Capello said: “I am delighted to be driving a Vauxhall.

“Vauxhall has been extremely supportive not only of the Football Association but of me personally and I am very grateful for their support.”

MD of Vauxhall, Duncan Aldred, is also pleased to get Capello into an Insignia – but revealed the firm didn’t actually have to press that hard.

“Shortly after announcing our partnership with the FA in January, we were approached by Fabio about the possibility of driving a Vauxhall.”

The England manager has previous form with Vauxhall, via its European sister company Opel. “I have very fond memories of driving an Opel many years ago and, during my coaching career at AC Milan, Opel were a lucky company for me when they were sponsor of the club.”

Could this mean England’s fortunes are set for an upturn as the 2012 European Championship finals draw closer?
