Eddie Jordan & Lady Helen Taylor encouraged guests to bid for auction items which included a flight in a two-seater Spitfire.
Lady Helen Taylor hosted around 1,500 guests at the Masterpiece Midsummer Party in aid of CLIC Sargent last night at Masterpiece London at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. The event raised more than £400,000 to help CLIC Sargent provide clinical, practical and emotional support to children and young people with cancer across the UK.
CLIC Sargent Patrons Alice Beer, Eddie and Marie Jordan, Sandra McGuigan, Patsy Palmer, Duncan Pow and Michelle Ryan were joined at the event by guests including Freddie Windsor, Allegra Hicks, Tamara Beckwith, Britt Ekland, Richard Bacon, Donna Air, Alan Hansen, Brian Fortuna and Nigel Havers.
Guests enjoyed a private viewing of the works of art on display at Masterpiece London while bidding on a number of ‘money can’t buy’ auction prizes. A luxury polo experience for 22 guests at the five star estancia (ranch) La Bamba de Areco in Argentina sold for £20,000; while a Spitfire experience with one of only three original 2-seater Spitfires to have survived sold for £6,000.
CLIC Sargent Ambassador and Chair of the organising committee, Lady Helen commented: “I’m delighted we were able to raise £400,000 for CLIC Sargent, a charity very close to my heart.
“The money raised from this event will be used to fund CLIC Sargent’s vital work, so a lovely evening at the Masterpiece Midsummer Party supported a hugely valuable cause at the same time,” she added.
Lucy Caldicott, Director of Fundraising at CLIC Sargent said: “I would like to say a big thank you to Lady Helen and the members of the organising committee for pulling together an amazing event, and to Masterpiece London, for choosing CLIC Sargent as its charity of the year. I’d also like to thank the guests at the party – every ticket sold, raffle ticket bought and auction bid made means that we can continue our vital work supporting children and young people with cancer, and their families.”
Nicola Winwood, Fair Director, Masterpiece London said: “The Masterpiece Midsummer Party in aid of CLIC Sargent was a tremendous success and we are delighted to have been able to support such a worthwhile cause.”
