Suhasini’s Hasini Pesum Padam (HPP) on Jaya TV is a comprehensive programme where Tamil films are reviewed. What makes it
work is that she is critical and to the point and does not hesitate to
trash a film if it is bad.
In the industry, her HPP has caused her a lot of embarrassment and at
times producers have bitterly complained to Tamil Film Producers
Council (TFPC). Suhasini has landed in another controversy following
her review of Sakthi Chidambaram’s Rajathi Raja on HPP.
She trashed the film and said it is one of the worst films, which
“has used the old formula created by MGR, Rajini and Vijay films and
said it has pushed Tamil cinema 20 years back”
Peeved by her
television review, producer and director of the film Shakthi
Chidambaram had said that he would file a legal case and also
complaint to TFPC requesting them to take action against her.
Sakthi Chidambaram held a press meet and lashed out at the actress and
said she had no business to show his film in the bad light, as she and
her husband Mani Ratnam was a part of the industry.
Says a peeved Chidambaram: “ Her husband Mani Ratnam is copying a 2000
year old subject ‘Ramayana’ and making Raavan. He has done
similar things in the past by helping himself to mythological and
historical tales, like the story of ‘Sathyavan Savithri’ as
Roja,, Karnan’s story as Dalapathy and so many other
instances of copying. Who is she now to say that I’m copying from old
20 year old Rajinikanth films?”
Suhasini who was in Ooty with Mani Ratnam on location of
Raavan, was not available for comment.
