In brief: The world-famous opera singer Montserrat Caballe arrived at Vilnius on Sunday. The guest from Spain will participate in the concert at the Lithuanian Opera and Ballet Theatre on Tuesday, the 4th of May.
The 77-year-old singer was invited to Lithuania by her colleague Nomeda Kazlauskaitė-Kazlaus, who has been cooperating with the famous soprano creatively for many years. Nomeda is the only Lithuanian singer performing along with M.Caballe.
Both soloists will perform arias and duets from popular operas in the concert dedicated to the 10th anniversary of Nordea Bank Lietuva. The Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Robertas Šervenikas and Kaunas State Choir will participate.
N.Kazlauskaitė and M.Caballe have known each other since 2000, when a concert was organised in Moscow where the legendary Spanish singer was invited to sing along with young European stars.
Later three concerts of M.Caballe and N.Kazlauskaitė were given in the festival Moscow Spring. The prima donna invited Nomeda to participate in the ARTE TV show “Montserrat Caballe Presenting Stars of Tomorrow” after several months.
The creative roads of the singers converged on the opera stage too. They sang in the opera of Gaetano Donizetti “Maria Steward” in Peralada Festival in Spain, and later in the opera of Camille Saint-Saens “Henry VIII”.
