This is a joint BI/DW & Web SIG meeting.

Date: Thursday January 20, 2011
Time: 6:00 - 7:30 pm

233 Spring Street, 6th Floor
New York, New York 10013

Topic: "APEX: Interactive Reports: An under the cover analysis"

Abstract: Application Express provides a lot of wonderful features with Interactive Reports (IR) that allow end-users to develop their own custom
reports. The question for developers is how to "break-in" to the black box to customize the interactive reports and use them the most effectively.
This presentation will show attendees how the interactive reports are generated and managed by Oracle. In addition, discussion will revolved
around best practices and considerations when developing with IR's.

Presenter: Josh Millinger started at Oracle in 1995 as member of the Program Capture Team, a division dedicated to supporting System Integrators as
they vied for large Government Contracts. Soon after, he became highly involved in building web applications for internal use. These applications helped manage the Oracle partner community, assisted in event registration, and provided an online data center hardware/software management system. It was during this time that Application Express became a focal point of his expertise.
In 2003, Josh began the Partner Technology Center located in Reston,VA. The PTC was designed to help Oracle's partners understand how Oracle's technology could help them solve real world problems. Classes he helped develop and teach included Application Express, Oracle Business Intelligence, Application Server, and Real Application Clusters. Josh left Oracle in 2006 to become a consultant evangelizing Oracle technology and formed Niantic Systems, LLC with Raj Mattamal, in 2007. Niantic's customers span many industries including Higher Education, Construction, Healthcare, and Commercial Business.
His education includes a undergraduate Computer Science degree from the University of Wisconsin, and a Masters degree in Computer Science
from the Johns Hopkins University
