Hideki Irabu Dead: Former MLB Pitcher Found Dead In California

Former New York Yankees pitcher Hideki Irabu was reportedly found dead on Wednesday at his home in California, Japanese site asahi.com reports.

Los Angeles Country Coroner Ed Winter confirmed Irabu's death.

Suicideis suspected.

Hardball Talk was the first to post the report in English.

Irabu joined the Yankees in 1997 and also played for the Texas Rangers and Montreal Expos.

He finished his career after six years with a 34-35 record and 5.15 ERA.

UPDATE: According to the Associated Press, the 42-year-old died of an apparent suicide. Other details have not been released.
