Senator John Kerry (D-MA)

Senator John Kerry is a United States Senator from Massachusetts. Throughout his career, and especially since September 11, Kerry has led the fight to make America's communities safer. After returning from Vietnam, where he completed two tours of duty, Kerry began a life of public service. From his groundbreaking work on the Iran-Contra scandal, to his leadership on global AIDS, and throughout 23 years on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he has distinguished himself as one of our nation's most respected voices on national security and international affairs. As chairman of the Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs, he worked to learn the truth about American soldiers missing in Vietnam and to normalize relations with a former enemy. As the ranking Democrat on the East Asian and Pacific Affairs Subcommittee, he became a leading expert on that region, including North Korea. He has been a prominent national voice on American policy in Iraq and Afghanistan, the war on terror, the Middle East peace process, and Israel's security. This past December, Kerry represented the United States Senate at the International Climate Negotiations in Bali, Indonesia. He was the 2004 Democratic nominee for president of the United States, and today in the U.S. Senate Kerry serves as Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee's Near East and South Asia Subcommittee. In the Senate Sen. Kerry works to advance America's role in the world.
