Transformers 3 Accident - Gabriella Cedillo In Stable Condition, Paramount Explains To Press

Two news regarding the Transformers 3 Accident.

Reports are coming in that Gabriella Cedillo had to undergo brain surgery on Thursday afternoon. She is now in stable condition. It’s happy to hear that she’s recovering. Hearts of all Transformers Fans are with her... Wishing a full and fast recovery.

Meanwhile, Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Paramount has spoken to them, Nikki Finke writes…
"Paramount just weighed in with me to say that the injured extra was not involved in the stunt, that her car was not involved in the stunt, that a "freak accident caused her injury", that she and her car were more than 500 feet from the stunt, that she was struck by a flying metal object whose welding had come apart and not by a steel towing cable, that the stunt from Tuesday had to be repeated Wednesday because of a "timing issue" and not because it had failed, and that "nobody has done movies more safely than Michael Bay". The studio, however, could not explain why its version of events was so at odds with the local police and media reports. "We feel horrible that anyone was injured and will take all appropriate action," a Paramount exec told me."

Also, some reports say that the filming of Transformers 3 is halted temporarily, although no official statement was made regarding that.

my friend who is an extra saw the whole thing happen and said it was crazy. several extras were driving their cars when the explosions from a pyrotechnic or something shot something through the wind shield of the car.

oh and tigerhawk, you must have a small penis.
Bumblethumper
To be honest, from some of the videos we've seen, I was almost expecting something like this.

Hope she's not banged up too bad.
Poho
you'd think they'd protect their extras appropriately while filming explosions.

Oh come on, it was an accident. Accidents happen, and the best we can do is wish her a speedy recovery. Those are the risks you take when you sign up to be an extra on a shoot with pyrotechnics.

Hope she gets better. Also why would Bay not have the explosions looked at and set more carfully to avoid such things? Like have someone inspect them and make sure nothing loose and sharp is around the device at the time of it going off so no shrapnal can kill someone. Since he loves blowing stuff up so much, he should really look into this.

Again, that's why it's an accident. They're real explosions, planned or not, and there's always a slim chance something can go wrong no matter how much you prepare.

Someone died on the set of Dark Knight. To be getting mad just because this is Bay is kind of a douchey thing to do. It's an accident.
RisingPhoenix86
I agree accidents do happen on every movie, Look at TDK 2 people died, One movie related and one not. But People should just be more careful especialy if involving such massive mayham with explosives.
Rodimus Major
Hope she recovers fully.

i knew this would happen eventually....i hope she has a speedy recovery

They're being as careful as they can. Aside from not doing it, they can't be anymore careful, these are trained pyrotechnicians. Again, it's not like this is anyone's fault, it's an accident.

Hope she wasn't injured too badly and recovers quickly.

Even with all the modern safety equipment and all the planning that goes into a production a movie set can still be a dangerous place.

With any luck they are being overly cautious with her condition and hopefully her injuries are not too bad so she has a full and quick recovery.

You know, I wish I could say I'm surprised, but honestly, back when I heard that story of Shia getting his eyelid cut open by debris during the filming of ROTF, I always wondered how long it'd be till someone got really hurt.

I hope for the woman's sake, it's nothing too much worse then Shia's eyelid incident.

Really? I had never heard about that. Must have been overshadowed by Heath Ledger's death. Which...Kinda sucks.
But you better believe if this woman is seriously hurt, or goodness forbid dies, people are going to hold it against Bay. People hate him enough already just for his movies.

Best wishes to her recovery. Kinda of sad that these kind of things happen despite all the care in the world being taken to avoid it.

QTF, and I don't remember having said that. Some people are so anti-Bay that they think his Pearl Harbor movie is a bigger scourge to humanity than the real bombing was.

This being a stunt person/driver is rough work and they know what they are getting into when they sign up for a job.

Actually it states that she was in fact not part of the stunt personnel. Only an extra. And given the type of danger Bay can put the actual actors in, it could be possible this woman didn't know what she was getting into.

Heck, from the little info we have here, for all we know she may not even have been in the scene that was being filmed. She could just have been nearby.

She's in a car in a Michael Bay movie. She had to know exactly what she was getting into.

I don't think she was in the actual scene in question. Now that I look at it more from what I've read, it almost sounds more like she was just sitting in her car(which the article states was in fact her personal car.) nearby off camera. Maybe waiting for them to finish up so she could drive home.
G1_Cindersaur
they will cover her medical bills....and probably pay her some $$ so she is compensated for her time in hospital.

christ , it is not like they do not have the $$ in the budget for it.
OMEGAPRIME1983
I hope she gets better soon..
Red Alert
Bay blew up Megan Fox

Wish the woman a speedy recovery.
Nerdicon
I wish her a speedy recovery as well. It's sad to see someone get hurt and placing blame is both premature and immature. So I myself will not do It.

Really unfortunate thing to happen, hope the woman is ok.

That's terrible news. I hope she'll be okay.

Damnit Bay. I hope for a speedy recovery.

Also I didn't know people died during the Dark Knight.

Well, Heath Ledger supposedly died from all the stress he got from acting as the Joker. Not really during production, but it does deserve mentioning.

Of course, no one hates on Nolan, because he delivers to the fanboys on most parts.
MegaHavok
Whats the big surprise here?
In TF1 they accidentaly LAUNCHED a CAR into a BUILDING
in TF2 they accidentaly set fire to the Sam's parent's house
Michael Bay uses some of the best and most professional people in the biz but shit can still happen. Just ask Brandon Lee

there was a stunt driver killed while doing, i believe, tests with the Tumbler on a UK racetrack. IIRC, he was in a follow car that hit a tree

Read the bottom paragraph too. THREE people died on the set of the movie "The Kingdom".

GTFOff Bays back about it. Shit happens no matter who is directing.

Just heard about this via the scrolling text on Good Morning America. Certainly not how I expect to find out TF news. Hope the injured recover swiftly.

I was wondering when someone would bring that up.

Accidents happen on set all the time, some are harmless, some are deadly. You can't blame Bay for this anymore than you can blame a guy who sets off a pyrotechnic.

I do hope she recovers.

Sad to hear, I hope she makes a speedy recovery.

The coroner's report states Heath Ledger died as a result of a fatal combination of prescription drugs - a variety of anti-spasm pills and allergy relief. I for one was horrified, particularly as I'm using several of the same treatments myself.

Hope she gets well soon.

I have a friend that is an extra for that scene in Indiana. He had to drive his own car on the highway shoot just like everyone else. Hope for a speedy recovery.
