Sky continues the march toward the launch of Sky 3D, Europe’s first dedicated 3D TV channel, with the news that the Guinness Premiership Final will be shown in 3D.
The highlight of the UK domestic rugby season will be broadcast in 3D in selected pubs and clubs. Sky 3D launches to Sky digital TV homes later in the year. It will be available to anyone with a Sky+ HD box and a 3D Ready TV. It is not clear how much the Sky 3D subscription will be.
To celebrate the 3D broadcast, Sky is running a competition to win tickets for the Guinness Premiership Final with the tagline: “Guinness and Sky will bring rugby to life by showing the Guinness Premiership Final in 3D in selected pubs.”
To find your nearest Sky 3D venue you can check the Sky website.
3D TV is set to be the next big thing after HDTV (high definition TV). Viewer feedback of the 3D TV experience is very strong – it offers a completely different viewing experience to normal 2D TV. If you haven’t seen it, you can see 3D TV demonstrations at selected John Lewis and Best Buy stores.
