David Beckham will not be able to start running for around four months, according to Dr Sakari Orava who operated on the AC Milan and England star today.

Dr Orava believes however that the 34-year-old will be able to make a full comeback after his rehabilitation is complete.

"I think it went quite fine," Dr Orava told Sky Sports News. "The prognosis is he needs a rehabilitation for the next few months, and the plaster cast is the next six to eight weeks.

"I would say that [it will be] maybe four months before he's running, but six months before he's jumping and kicking. I think that he understood it's a serious injury and he's not able to contemplate [the World Cup].

"Usually people can do what they have done before if everything goes fine."
