Slutwalk D.C.: 'No' still means 'no'

D.C. got its own version of the Slutwalk, a movement of marches taking place across the world, on Saturday. The demonstrations are meant to raise awareness of, and end victim-blaming in, sexual assaults. They began in response to a Toronto police officer's remark that women shouldn't dress "like sluts" if they want to avoid being raped.

"Slut Walks" began in Toronto earlier this year after a police officer there said "women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized." Since the Toronto march on April 3, similar demonstrations have taken place in cities worldwide, including Chicago, London, and New Delhi.
