The Eleventh Doctor’s costume unveiled!

July 20th, 2009

It’s been a very long time coming, but here’s the first official picture of Matt Smith and Karen Gillan on set of Doctor Who, and in costume as their respected characters, the Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond!

Six months after his casting in the series was announced, 26-year-old Smith can been seen in all his Time Lord glory wearing a tweed suit, with a brown bow tie – a look that’s reminiscent of an Oxford professor. He’s also wearing dark shoes and trousers. Meanwhile, Karen can be seen in quite a laid back and contemporary look for her portrayal of the Doctor’s new companion. You can see the intriguing location shot below:

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

Over the coming months, the duo will become common knowledge for Who fans as filming for the fifth series continues in Cardiff – and we’re promised more laughs, thrills and scares than ever before for Series 5, which will hit our screens next year.

What do you think of the Doctor and Amy’s attires? Let us know by voting on the poll above and leaving your thoughts in a post on this news story!

Oh get a life people – all this rubbish about the new outfit and he isnt going to be any good blah blah blah – I remember these words when David was announced as the new doctor – do we have to always go through this – wait for the series to screen and see what happens -we all know that Matt starts and then “its oh isnt he good – I thought wasnt going to be any good but he is brilliant or blah blah blah” – Its a TV show its not real life just watch and enjoy

Assuming that the ‘costume’ is slightly variable, it should be fine (tie/no tie – similar but not identical jackets/shirts/shoes, etc.). As long as it doesn’t revert to the Davison/C. Baker years where the costumes were EXACTLY the same week-after-week.

To start off I would like to say I’m really excited about the Waters of Mars tonight which will air on bbc 1 tonight at 7 oclock.

What is dissapointing me about this new series is that everything is changing. the TARDIS is changing completely (the only thing not really changing in the TARDIS is the outside which looks different if you think about it). Also, the doctors hair and his clothes look so ridiculous it’s unreal. There is going to be nothing original about this new series unless Matt can pull a few strings on the acting. As for the new companions name and her in general, i think she looks like a good actor but i’m thoroughly unimpressed. Overall, id say that Matt has big boots to fill and if he doesn’t the BBC are on a verge of losing a hell of a lot of viewers i’m afraid and we’re going to be saying Goodbye Doctor who for possibly the rest of our lives..

It’s just a TV show, not real life. All of this wondering if the new guy will be any good as the Doctor is just fans being stupid. If he wasn’t good then he wouldn’t be hired for the role.
