Wrapper Cloth
©2007 by Rhonda White 100% worsted weight cotton yarn Size 7 straight knitting needles yarn needle for weaving in ends Small amounts of contrasting colors or ribbon, if desired Cast on 2 stitches Row 1: k1, kfb (3 sts) Row 2: k1, kfb, k1 Row 3: k2, yo, knit to end Rows 4-10: repeat row 3 Row 11: k2, yo, k4, (kfb 5 times in next stitch), turn, k5, turn, pass 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th st over 1st st (bobble made), knit to end (14 sts) Row 12: k2, yo, knit to end Rows 13-45:repeat row 12 until there are 46 sts on the needle. Start decrease: Row 46. K1, k2tog, knit to end Rows 47-76:Repeat until 15 sts remain Row 77. K1, k2tog, k5, yo2, knit to end Row 78. K1, k2tog, k5, k2tog, knit to end (14 sts) Row 79. K1, k2tog, knit to end Row 80-89: Repeat last row until 3 sts remain Row 90. K1, k2tog Pass 2nd st over 1st st and fasten off. Weave in ends. For “wrapper”: Place cloth so it looks like a diamond shape, with the bobble at the bottom and the eyelet at the top. Fold each side in toward the center, then fold top to bottom, and use the bobble to “button” it closed. There are also eyelets that can be used to weave ribbon in and out before tying it into a bow. Tuck a nice soap or other small gift inside for two gifts in one :O) Striped Version Work cloth as above, stopping with decrease row when 29 stitches remain. Then work stripes as follows, continuing to decrease each row: 4 rows dark green 2 rows lime green 4 rows red 2 rows lime green 2 rows dark green Work eyelet row with dark green, then knit one more dark green row Continue in stripe sequence with 2 rows lime green 4 rows red 2 rows lime green Finish off in dark green Weave in ends |
