After Monday's night's 1-0 victory over local rivals Nottingham Forest, Leicester City moved up to 14th in the npower Championship table and within five points of the play-offs.

It was manager Sven-Goran Eriksson's ninth league game and fifth victory since taking up the reins at the Walkers Stadium and helped maintain the momentum that's building at the club.

Eriksson was delighted with Monday night's win and is hoping to follow it up with another positive result against Watford on Saturday, as the team aim to put a run of wins together.

"We needed three points to move higher up in the table, especially after the defeat against Bristol. But now we are in the same situation as after we beat Derby and then went and lost to Bristol. We've beaten Nottingham Forest and now we go to Watford, and I really hope we can do better. We played well against Bristol but I hope we can get a better result against Watford on Saturday.

"It's important that after a good win against Forest we go on getting results. We know it's going to be difficult but we are ready for it. The boys are working very hard and are in great shape."

People are starting to take notice of City after some impressive results and performances in recent weeks have seen them move up the table, but Sven is still seeking an improvement.

"I would be happier to be number one! But no, we are doing ok. It would be good to be a little more consistent but every game is difficult in this league. It's a battle every time and you have to be at your best if you want to go home with a result. It's about trying to find a winning mentality but it's not easy."

The Foxes boss is expecting another tough encounter on Saturday against Watford, a team just one place below City in the table.

"We have seen them more than once. There are a difficult team to play against with a lot of discipline. They are very aggressive and work extremely hard so it will be another battle. It's the same every time you play in this league."

After some time away from the day-to-day involvement of coaching, Eriksson revealed that he's relishing managing City and senses the expectation around the football club.

"I like it very much, even when it's cold and it's snowing! The players are working very hard and I think everybody in the club knows what the owners want, and you can smell a bit of that atmosphere, which is very nice."

With further recent loan-signings arriving at the club, Eriksson admitted that the starting eleven is beginning to feel like his team.

"Absolutely it is. We took in new players and we'll see what happens in January. It depends very much on us, how we are doing and what results we are getting. I really hope we can go on winning and playing good football."

On of those recent additions, Czech striker Roman Bednar, made his Foxes debut against Forest and whilst impressed with his display, Eriksson is confident that there's more to come from the West Bromwich Albion man.

"I was very pleased. I think he started a little bit rusty but he can get better and better all the time, and he's working very hard. He's very keen to play well and score goals so I'm very confident, and he will be better for every game he plays."

With competition for places increasing in the attacking positions, Sven revealed how the future return of both Aleksandar Tunchev and Miguel Vitor will provide a boost to his defensive options in the coming weeks and months.

"The programme for him (Tunchev) is that next week he will start to train with the rest of the team and then it's a matter of waiting for him to be match fit. Hopefully that will be before Christmas but I don't know. He's been away for a long, long time. Miguel is in the squad for the Watford game on Saturday, so he is ready."
