Bauernhoffen Kennels started as LA Kennels in 1997 with the help of Mrs. Herni Bauer. After spending a considerable amount of time helping us to understand the genetics of breeding quality German Shepherd Dogs, Mrs. Bauer selected Bauernhoffen's Eddie Bauer for us. The goal: To produce the most beautiful, intelligent German Shepherd dogs who are genetically sound and physically robust.
It took only a short while for Mrs. Bauer to locate the best dam to breed with Bauernhoffen's Eddie Bauer. She located Bauernhoffen's Sweet Adeline in St. Joseph, MO and arranged to have her brought to her kennel in Georgia. When we went down to pick up Sweet Adeline, Mrs. Bauer told us "with these two dogs, you will produce the best german shepherds anywhere" and she asked that we provide her with two of the pups in order for her to reestablish her own breeding stock of solid black German Shepherd Dogs.
We now offer two bloodlines of German Shepherds; the Bauernhoffen bloodline and the Siegelgrun bloodline. Both make exceptional working dogs, show dogs and always excellent family companions. Our Siegelgrun bloodline comes from the East German (DDR) Grandsire, National Champion, Neumann's Jim, SchH III FH. We raise all of our dogs from our home in Archdale, North Carolina where we devote much time and energy towards our dogs. We keep our dogs inside of our house as much as possible and sleep many nights inside, but when they are outside, they have very large dog runs. Two of our breeding dogs are full time inside house dogs, one professionally trained as a family protection dog.
In 2007, we changed our name from LA Kennels to Bauernhoffen Kennels in honor of Mrs. Henrietta Bauer. We will continue to strive to reach for the excellence she started so many years ago. When you adopt a puppy from us, you will be getting an AKC registered German Shepherd that comes from a long history of top quality, healthy dogs with outstanding temeraments.
