NBC has picked up Prime Suspect, the U.S. adaptation of the British miniseries to series. NBC has also picked up Steven Spielberg musical drama Smash, starring Debra Messing and Anjelica Huston to series.

NBC also picked up two sitcoms.  Whitney, starring comedienne Whitney Cummings, and Up All Night starring Christina Applegate.

Update: They're just getting started on the pickups, you should definitely expect more to come during the week. Those four pickups are all NBCUniversal productions...

Whatever happened to that pilot that was going to have all the Battlestar Galactica alums. I think it was called 9th Precinct or something? Wasn’t that one being pitched to NBC?

Those were all pretty much locks.

I take it these other two sitcoms are NOT My Life as an Experiment with Paget Brewster?

Does this mean it’s pretty much dead?
Meaning GOODBYE SEAVER WELCOME BACK EMILY???

    REM/Awake? Yes? No? Spill, people!

Musical Drama? Wow. Talk about a cancellation-in-the-making.

  6. Buzz for all of NBC’s genre shows seem to have cooled considerably. While the high-concept projects like REM/Awake, Reconstruction and Metro are fighting it out for the rest of the slots as NBC plays it safe.

  7. No originality. Rehashed/Ripped off slop. Please give someone whose a risk taker a chance.

  8. SVU featuring Chuck (yay), Anna, Harry and Nikita with Connie Ribirosa

It was called 17th Precinct, and there is no news on it yet.

No, the Paget Brewster comedy is called My Life as an Experiment. I hope it gets picked up so Criminal Minds can suck it.

  9. I expect several more announcements about new series pickups from NBC. They’re not done yet…

Christina Applegate back on TV! Yay!

And I’m looking forward to Smash because Katharine McPhee will be there too <3

So we have Community, 30 Rock, Parks & The Office renewed then plus the pick of these two sitcoms. I wonder if they will pick up more. But I could see the two new sitcoms on a different block

    Emily Spivey’s = “Alpha Mom”

  12. Jeremy

Wat about Wonder Woman ? I read it was picked up on one site and then that it was dead on another. So ?

  13. Silas

Debra Messing and Christina Applegate???? HELL YES.

Prime Suspect first appeared in the UK 20 years ago. 20. Talk about 2000 and late.

    @Jeremiah

Deadline said 17th Precinct was “officially dead” a couple of days ago, so expect a pickup to series in the next few hours lol ;)

  15. SVU featuring Chuck (yay), Anna, Harry and Nikita with Connie Ribirosa

I would love to see a Chelsea Handler/Kari Lizer comedy block somewhere on the schedule next season. I think that would be the funniest comedy block (outside of a BBT/HIMYM block) on television.

From what I’ve been reading, 17th Precinct doesn’t look likely to happen… if so, it’s a shame, because it sounded interesting.

So far the four pickups are stinkers to me.

  18. The 5th Column (AJ)

Also good for Christina Applegate. Her shows are always pretty good. I don’t know what to think about Smash. It’s not my cup of tea but I imagine it might literally smash Glee with the people behind it. NBC is on the comeback!

  19. rob60990

Im sure the Chelsea Handler comedy will be picked up along with drama Awake.

also hope Pagets pilot being picked. bringing back Emily Prentiss after her backstory and getting to work for the FBI again. would really have jumped the shark for CM. Seaver is a great new character way better then brining in prentiss again all the crap she has hidden from the FBI
