Brooklyn Bridge Night Closures for Rehabilitation Project
  http://www.lowermanhattan.info/construction/project_updates/brooklyn_bridge_rehabilitation_85300.aspx
To facilitate Brooklyn Bridge rehabilitation, the city DOT is closing and reducing Manhattan-bound lanes overnight as needed. During the closures, westbound traffic will be detoured to the Manhattan Bridge and Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel during the closure hours. Brooklyn-bound traffic and pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained, though the promenade will be narrowed during the project. Work includes repainting steel across the entire span to prevent corrosion, along with repairs to the ramps and approaches. The closures are expected to continue overnight through the end of the project in 2014. For more details visit: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/bridges/brooklyn_bridge.shtml#traffic
  Chambers Street Made One-Way Westbound
  http://www.lowermanhattan.info/news/chambers_street_to_go_77837.aspx
Reconstruction and water-main replacement on Chambers Street is now underway between West Street and West Broadway. As of August 29th, the road will be reduced to one-way westbound traffic. The closure allows city crews to perform extensive infrastructure reconstruction in the roadbed. Other utilities also will be replaced, including electric, gas, steam, and sewer, as well curbs and sidewalks rebuilt.
  City DOT Safe Bicycling Guide
  http://www.lowermanhattan.info/news/city_dot_issues_safe_95632.aspx
To help ensure bicyclists' safety and compliance with city laws, the Department of Transportation (DOT) has issued the “Bike Smart – Official Guide to New York City Cycling” brochure. The brochure includes guidelines for smart bicycling, tips for how to “read the road,” and practical advice for using bike lanes.

The guide also offers tips for parking and locking bikes, and how to merge, share space, and cross paths with vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Reminders of what safety gear is required -- such as helmets, lights and bells -- is also listed, as well as diagrams for how to safely make turns in traffic, and riding three feet from parked cars to avoid being “doored.” A map of New York City’s bike lanes and other cycling tips also can be found on the DOT website.
Hudson Street Water Main Project Underway in Tribeca
  http://www.lowermanhattan.info/news/hudson_street_water_main_47663.aspx
The City of New York is working to update its water-supply system, including rebuilding and replacing miles of water mains in Manhattan that tie into the third water tunnel. The project is extending to Lower Manhattan, where work is taking place in north Tribeca around the Holland Tunnel rotunda, on Hudson and adjacent streets, through approximately winter 2015.
  Nassau Roadway Closed for Reconstruction
  http://www.lowermanhattan.info/news/nassau_street_work_extends_25273.aspx
June 2010 brought the start of capital reconstruction on Nassau Street between Ann and Beekman, requiring a full road closure. In addition, In January 2011 reconstruction began on Nassau from Maiden Lane to John Street, also closing the roadway. Crews will work standard weekday hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional night and weekend shifts as needed. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
  New York City Bicycle Network
  http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/bicyclists/bikemain.shtml#currentproj
To encourage cycling as an environmentally friendly, healthy form of transportation, the city DOT is installing bicycle lanes as part of its three-year 200-lane-mile commitment, launched in 2006. More than 80 cycling lane miles have been installed to date. Completion of the city's 1,800-mile bicycle master plan is scheduled by 2030.
Trucks and Commercial Vehicles Routes and Information
  http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/motorist/trucks.shtml
Trucks and commercial vehicles are essential to New York City, providing goods and services to millions of New Yorkers every day. The city's diverse mixture of land uses, dense urban environment, and vast transportation infrastructure require a distinct set of regulations to govern the operation of trucks and commercial vehicles. In order for this system to function efficiently, it is important that drivers observe city rules, routes, and regulations, outlined by the city DOT at: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/motorist/trucks.shtml

West Street Bikeway Moves to Esplanade
  http://www.lowermanhattan.info/news/west_street_bikeway_moves_63256.aspx
Since November 2010, the west-side bikeway between Albany and Vesey Streets is relocated to the Battery Park City (BPC) north cove esplanade. The relocation allows Port Authority crews to perform infrastructure work associated with the World Trade Center chiller plant, which ties into Hudson River underground water lines in BPC. The bikeway relocation is expected to remain on the esplanade for up to four years. Signs along the route will help guide cyclists through the detour.
