Former World No. 1 Carlos Moya, who retired from professional tennis at the close of 2010, has announced his next project will be to run the new SD Tennis Academy in Madrid. The Mallorcan will work alongside his friend, Roberto Carretero, with the aim of turning the academy into the best tennis school in Spain.
“I am starting a wonderful project,” said Moya, who won the Roland Garros crown in 1998. “I am really hoping to be able to share my knowledge with the new talents looking to make a career in tennis, but also with the ones looking to play tennis for fun. I really look forward to trying to develop one of the best tennis schools in this magnificent complex of Santo Domingo Club Social.”
“I know parents want to give the best to their kids,” continued the 35 year old, who is father to one-year-old Carla. “Once they drop them off here, they can be sure their kids will get to learn how to respect others, work hard and compete. It doesn’t matter what they are looking to do in tennis, the most important thing is that we will be sharing these core values with all of them.”
The SD Tennis Academy will open on 17 September.
