My father would've been touched, says Saif
Pataudi (Haryana), Sep 23, (IANS) :

Actor Saif Ali Khan Friday thanked friends, family and fans who extended support following his father Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi's death. He said the late Indian cricket legend would've been overwhelmed with the love.

Former Indian cricketer Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi’s wife Sharmila Tagore with daughters — Saba and Soha — and actress Kareena Kapoor (2nd left) watch the funeral service from the Pataudi Palace on Friday. AP“I would just like to thank everyone for their kind wishes. I would also say that he (my father) would have been very touched by the support and the wonderful things that the media has said,” Saif told reporters here, after Pataudi was laid to rest at his ancestral estate.

“I thank all his contemporaries and his fellow cricketers who have written such beautiful things in the papers, and indeed all his friends who have passed on their wishes to us. As a family, we thank you for your support,” added the actor, who, along with a few close family members and friends, led Pataudi's cortege.

Pataudi passed away in New Delhi Thursday, after battling a lung infection. He was 70.
Dressed in a white kurta-pajama, Saif offered prayers with Muslim clerics before Pataudi's body was lowered into the grave, while Pataudi's wife -- veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, son Saif Ali Khan's partner Kareena Kapoor, and daughters Soha and Saba -- watched the burial from the first floor of the Pataudi palace.

RIP Tiger. You were not only the Nawb of your province but for cricket itself. Can never forget the grace you fielded in the over regions like a tiger which got you the name. We are blessed that we had great guys like you and ur Dad who refused to play under Douglas Jardine during the infamous trip to Austarlia.

Rest in peace Nawab, you made the country proud. I pray your soul rests in peace and the family to overcome their grief. Saif is right in saying that the Nawab had many wellwishers and friends, he is a true gentlemen with lots of grace, on the other hand I doubt if Azhar gets the same respect after he is gone.

RK why do you want to bring Azhar's name into this story of tragedy. Azhar himself lost his son recently. Are you a RSS goon? How come you didn't name the names of Ganguly, Dravid & many others? It is not I wish the guys I named anything bad, for I have deep respects for everyone. RK don't show your dirty communal mentality here!

a PRINCE of cricket is gone. Present day crickteers should emulate his style of behaviour and committment to the game. Let his soul rest in peace.
