CBS ANNOUNCES 2011-2012 PREMIERE DATES
CBS, America's most watched network, will officially open the 2011-2012 season on Monday, Sept. 19, highlighted by the special series debut of its new comedy, 2 Broke Girls, which premieres at a special time behind the season premiere of Two and a Half Men.
CBS will once again launch the majority of its new and returning programming during premiere week (Sept. 19-25). SURVIVOR premieres one week earlier (Wednesday, Sept. 14) for the ninth time in the past 10 seasons, and the comedies MIKE & Molly (Monday, Sept. 26) and How To Be A Gentleman (Thursday, Sept. 29) will debut one week later.
The new drama, Person Of Interest, opens Thursday, Sept. 22 preceded by back-to-back episodes of The Big Bang Theory. Unforgettable premieres Tuesday, Sept. 20 and A Gifted Man on Friday, Sept. 23.
"Our playbook is pretty consistent: wherever and whenever possible we use established successful series to introduce new shows," said Kelly Kahl, Senior Executive Vice President, CBS Primetime. "We've also asked a couple of our strongest series to work overtime during premiere week in order to support the new series and bolster our performance."

what does s mean after HIMYM and TBBT?
Are the second episodes of “HIMYM” and “TBBT” going to be repeats or new episodes? It would be better if they were original material. I think it’s a bad move premiering “Two Broke Girls” after “Two and a Half Men” and then switching it to the next week. ‘HIMYM” is a good lead-in for TBG and TAAHM is a little risky at this point with a new cast lead and the downhill ratings this spring. Although, as I type this, there will be a lot of curiosity to see how Ashton Kutcher does in the show, so maybe it will benefit everyone.
Smart move on CBS’s part premiering Two Broke Girls after what’s sure to be a big audience for the new 2 1/2 MEN.
Caringtype
I think the (S) means a special airing.
SVU suspect behavior
thanks that makes sense.
J.G.
But won’t the common TV viewer be confused that 2 Broke Girls is on after 2.5 Men one week and then it moves to a different timeslot the next? I think that CBS should keep 2 Broke girls after 2.5 Men and move Mike & Molly to after HIMYM and see how they do there.
I guess this means that 2.5Men with its new cast is gonna be up and running by mid-Sept. That’s quick.
NICE!!!
inteerested to c how 2BG does after 2 1/2 men..:)
PoI Premiere and THE MENTALIST season Premiere all in one NIGHTT?? A.W.E.S.O.M.E!!!!!!!
also very interested to see how CM and CSI do on Wed…
hopes TGW FAILS on sun night! CSI:Miami should do just fine,as it did this past season:)
@SVU Suspect Behavior
If CBS puts the word out there (which I’m sure they will) people won’t be confused.
I think S means a new episode, i guess how i met your mother and the big bang theory will air two back to back new episodes
@Nadine
One new cast member is hardly a ‘new cast’. They have had months to deal with the departure of Sheen. It’s not like he pulled his sh*t during production of this new upcoming season. So it’s hardly ‘quick’ for it to be premiering. Nothing out of the ordinary.
I’m surprised at the confusion. Perhaps because the release was straightforward with no “OMG, there’s FIVE HOURS OF NCIS!” hiding in it, the conspiracy theorists among you are looking for the “gotcha”.
I don’t think there is any gotcha. The special episodes of HIMYM and TBBT in the first week will be NEW episodes, and those are likely to take advantage of/bolster the premieres of Two & a Half Men and the Thursday 9p premiere of Person of Interest. It makes a lot of sense to me…
Now what’s NBC’s excuse for being the last network to announce, besides hoping they don’t have to address their NFL problem on Sunday night?
Looking forward to The Good Wife and The Amazing Race on Sundays. That will be a terrific combo.
I don’t think that I’ll be regularly watching anything else on CBS, but it will continue to be interesting to see how their schedule performs. Especially whether or not Person of Interest can hold it’s own in such a traditionally tough slot.
Marking the date for Sunday, September 25 for The Good Wife. I think it will do reasonably well there, I just hate the thought of it being delayed for football.
I await the cancelations come fall.
Aww, I was hoping TAR would get a 2-hour pemiere.
This seems very solid, smart, and at least easy to remember unlike FOX which was just a hot mess.
A Gifted Man will probably be pulled by Sweeps. CBS Sundays are going to be very weak without football overruns.
When is NBC gonna release the Schedule for Fall?.Someone knows when are the Premieres of:Psych,Hung,Homeland as well.
Will watch 2.5 men even though I’ve never watched it before. Maybe will wI’ll watch HIMYM. IDK it’s so boring this last season, and the characters are completely different. especially LIly now. Completely changed.
