Central Campus Redevelopment

Genesis Housing Association is preparing to submit a planning application for the redevelopment of the former Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) central campus in Victoria Road South.

In 2003, planning permission was granted for 700 new dwellings along with offices and shops, but this scheme was never built.

The new application is expected to include about 600 new homes, new retail floorspace and offices. There would be two points of vehicular access; from Victoria Road South and Parkway. Genesis has secured funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) to support the affordable housing within the development.

The Grade II listed Anne Knight Building (former Quaker Meeting House) will be retained and re-used along with the Frederick Chancellor Building on Victoria Road South. The façade of the former Law Building is also proposed to be retained with a new building behind.
