Daniel Fox set to sign for Coventry City today

IAIN DOWIE was expected to make Coventry City's first January transfer today with the arrival of highly-rated Walsall defender Daniel Fox.

The Sky Blues agreed terms with the Saddlers on Monday, understood to be £200,000 rising to £400,000 for the 21-year-old left-back who is out of contract in the summer.

A former Everton trainee, Fox was due to undergo a medical before discussing personal terms with the club to tie up the deal.

Fox has played 118 times for Walsall, scoring six league goals.

He was watched by Dowie in Walsall's recent FA Cup third round replay defeat against Millwall.

It means he is cup-tied and not available to face the Lions again on Saturday when they travel to the Ricoh Arena in the fourth round of the competition.

The young player has earned rave reviews from manager Richard Money, under whom he has played some of the best football of his career in the last six months.

He had attracted interest from Leeds United, Colchester and Wolves.

Leeds have already had a £250,000 bid turned down for the player.

But Coventry have put together a better package and expect to complete his move this week.
