Positive Futures

Every year over 50,000 young people participate in the government’s £10 million Positive Futures projects.

It provides prevention and diversionary activities for 10- to 19-year-olds on the cusp of, or who have desisted from, offending.

In addition, the government is providing £8.5 million in 2011-12 to support action on young people's substance-related offending, including inviting voluntary and community sector approaches to support new innovative local schemes.

In 2009-10, Positive Futures led to over 36,000 positive outcomes for young people - this included improving self-esteem, finding employment and gaining over 10,000 qualifications.
