HCMC – GM Daewoo Vietnam, or Vidamco, has introduced a new version of its sport utility vehicle Chevrolet Captiva that has been innovated with changes in accordance with Vietnamese customers’ demands.
The Chevrolet Captiva Maxx is based on a market survey undertaken by the marketing and sales department of Vidamco.
Vidamco’s general director Jung In Kim said at the launching ceremony in HCMC on Friday that he believed the gasoline 2.4 DOHC and diesel 2.0 SOHC Chevrolet Captiva Maxx models would be an attractive solution for consumers in times of economic crisis. They are priced at US$33,100 to US$36,200 per unit, he said.
The new version is highlighted with a more youthful, fashionable, sportive and dynamic style and eye-catching design. It is used as a spacious five-seat sedan and a seven-seat vehicle.
The new car features numerous comfort and convenience amenities normally found in large, luxurious SUV.
Among the convenience features available for the first time in an SUV in Vietnam are a one-touch double-folding mechanism for seats, third-row seats with automatic folding headrests, a sliding center console and anti-theft protection.
The seven-seat configuration comes standard with automatic level ride control, which improves driving dynamics and maintains a parallel illumination angle of headlamps at all times.
The latest hydraulic engine mounting system reduces engine vibration and noise. The system is accentuated by various noise-reduction features including a high-strength body shell structure, sound insulation.
Around 20% of the Chevrolet Captiva ’s parts are manufactured in the country.
Vidamco has sold some 8,500 Chevrolet Captiva vehicles since their launch on Vietnam’s market in 2006. The company is expected to sell some 1,500 Chevrolet Captiva Maxx units by the end of the year.
