FORECAST IN DETAIL

So this must be what it’s like to live in San Diego. Warm, dry and sunny conditions continue through Columbus Day. The nice weather has been around for a while now but don’t take it for granted. All good things come to an end, and as we head toward midweek, a disturbance expected to form early in the week near Florida likely spreads clouds and a good chance of rain our way.

Today (Sunday): I’d say this is getting repetitive, but that would imply something negative. Another picture-perfect day is in store for our area. Lots more sun and highs warming to near 80 to the low 80s make for a spectacular Sunday. Breezes are light under our dome of high pressure. Confidence: High

Tonight: Conditions turn to cool and crisp as we head into the overnight. With our clear skies, temperatures have no problem dipping to lows in the upper 40s to mid-50s (suburbs to city). Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Columbus Day): More pleasantness is in the offing for the holiday as we see plenty more sun and warmth. Mostly sunny skies push highs to near 80 to the mid-80s. Some clouds may try to encroach later in the afternoon or evening. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Partly to mostly cloudy skies prevail, leading to a warmer night than the previous few. Overnight lows bottom in the mid-50s to near 60 as we start to see a bit more moisture creep into the atmosphere. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

By Tuesday, our stretch of greatness probably comes to a close. At the very least, we’re likely to see mostly cloudy skies. There’s also a 40% chance that showers move into the region during the day or evening, though if they do there’s some indication the more consistent rain may stay off to the west. Highs should top out in the 70s. Confidence: Low-Medium

Rain chances head higher on Wednesday, to around 60%, as low pressure along the Southeast coast threatens unsettled weather for much of the East Coast. Under mostly cloudy skies, highs may have trouble reaching or getting much past 70. Confidence: Low-Medium
