Have you built application hosting environments consisting of several thousand nodes configured with tens of thousands of processors, terabytes of RAM, and petabytes of disk? ITA has. We have a great time creating and maintaining the infrastructure to power millions of daily airline shopping transactions at some of the world's largest airline and travel sites. As a member of our Engineering Operations team, you could too!

 

In EngOps, we tackle the computing complexities of airline travel, moving beyond the limitations posed by traditional data center, systems and application designs. By focusing on manageability—striving for the simplest possible deployment and maintenance of our hosted systems—we free ourselves to concentrate on innovation and customer support.

Datacenter Operations

Builds, deploys, and maintains thousands of Linux systems, networks, and storage
Datacenter Operations staff manage our data center deployments and are tasked with keeping thousands of servers spinning 24x7. To meet this challenge, we constantly research and test new technologies to increase server and component stability while packing more computing power into less space. We focus on efficiency and automation -- doing more with less.

Site Reliability

Deploys and maintains our state-of-the-art travel systems
Site Reliability Engineers deploy and maintain ITA’s code base in production. We deploy, upgrade, patch, and fix our running code. In our spare time, we figure out ways to automate, innovate, and streamline our processes and improve service levels.

Systems Operations

Ensures ITA Software systems are available 24x7
Systems Operations staff bridge the gap between man and machine. Our first priority is keeping our entire travel infrastructure running 24x7. We respond to all hardware and application failures, day and night. Perhaps more important, we handle all customer calls about the environments and the status of the systems. We worry about the complicated techie stuff so customers don't have to.

Engineering Management

Leads and Motivates our Technical Talent
ITA’s engineering teams exhibit high energy, deep technical skills and a drive to get things done. Our Engineering Managers need to be technical leaders and motivators who are comfortable leading these teams in a high-pressure, dynamic environment. Jobs are broadly defined and interact with Product Management, Sales and other groups at ITA.
