SUMMARY:

  • Design, implement, manage, and coordinate an institution-wide comprehensive donor relations and stewardship system that promotes engagement with and recognition of donors at all levels.    Support Advancement staff in gift acceptance and management; manage acknowledgments and pledge reminders for major gifts; proactively partner with other Advancement staff to identify strategies and opportunities for effective donor recognition and stewardship; manage Advancement Special Events staff, including management of significant fundraising gala; report to donors and others on the impact of their gifts.

 

  • Work with Advancement staff to design strategies and oversee implementation of mechanisms for meaningful donor engagement in support of the Leadership Giving Initiative, including:Work with planned and major gift officers to tailor individualized strategies to move donors forward in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Collaborate with volunteers and faculty to steward and cultivate prospects and donors. Manage donor recognition societies, including the Tourjee Society for planned gifts. Travel regionally and nationally to assist Advancement staff in meeting annual fundraising goals. Management of in-kind gifts.
  • Create and manage system for communication with donors that includes:Timely, accurate and meaningful acknowledgements for all major donors, including drafting letters for President and other senior staff and volunteers. Pledge reminders for outstanding pledges. Annual reports on endowed funds and scholarships
  • Oversee Events staff to develop and execute effective events for cultivation and stewardship and an annual gala and other events with specific fundraising goals. 
  • Collaborate with Advancement staff to achieve fundraising goals (team and individual) as established by Executive Director of Development.
  • Ensure that processes are consistently followed for gift acceptance and documentation.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Controllers Office, the Office of Financial Aid, Dean of Students and other faculty and administrators.  Ensure accuracy in reporting to donors of endowed funds, and serve as liaison regarding allocation and timing of gifts and pledges.
  • Act as liaison with the President’s office for donor relations activities (visits, correspondence, birthday or memorial cards).
  • Working in tandem with appropriate IA senior staff,  provide input to the Feast expense and revenue annual budget, and other programmatic expenses.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the development field required.
  • Demonstrated experience in development, stewardship and advancement services or related fields.
  • Proven positive track record in managing staff.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and flexibility that allow for effective management, team building, and quality relations with a variety of constituencies, including board members, faculty, alumni and staff.
  • Demonstrated and persuasive verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Proven budgetary experience.
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team with both internal and external constituencies of the Conservatory.
  • Experience in higher education and/or cultural institutions preferred.
  • Familiarity with music field helpful.
  • Ability and willingness to travel is essential.
  • Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends is essential.
  • Employee must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions: works well with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes; perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading or speaking with others; and respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor.
