Cindy Bradley '03 MM, Jazz PerformanceJazz trumpeter Cindy Bradley ’03 M.M. recently won the award for Best New Jazz Artist for the American Smooth Jazz Awards.  Cindy was also awarded with two Oasis Contemporary Jazz Awards for Brass Player of the Year 2011 and Best New Jazz Artist 2011.  Her second album, Unscripted, is set to be released June 2011. 2011-06-21

 

 

 

Jayne Marie Flores '03 MM, Vocal PerformanceJayne Marie Flores '03 M.M. has recently been named Executive Director and Co-Founder of Passion Institute of Worship in Ocala, Florida. This International Institute of Music was founded on the premise of bilingual training for young church musicians in contemporary church music, with musical skill and a foundation of bible knowledge. This venture is a life-long dream realized for Ms. Flores. Along with other notable recording artists, pastors and contemporary worshippers Passion has already created quite a stir. Steven Lin '03, Guitar PerformanceGuitarist Steven Lin ’03 moved back to his native San Jose, California in 2008. He continues to perform regularly, and has traveled to Seattle, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and D.C. In 2010 he was a featured artist at the first Manila International Guitar Festival. He will also be traveling to Mexico for the third year in a row for concerts and master classes. He teaches at De Anza College and San Jose State University, and maintains a private studio. He works closely with the South Bay Guitar Society in getting grants, in outreach presentations, and in supporting guitar activities in the San Jose area. In 2009 he co-founded Sonart Group, a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of music and educational performances. Sonart Group is the west coast incarnation of Boston Guitar Project, which Steve founded and directed from 2005 - 2008. Steve's love of food and cooking continues in San Jose; he tends a small garden and keeps red worms for composting. To top it all off, he has found dedicated partners for his badminton and table tennis addictions. 2010-12-20

 

New Sounds of ExoticaRandy Wong ’03, founder of the group WAITIKI 7, recently released a new recording, New Sounds of Exotica. The album is a new spin on exotica, the musical genre that leaped from Hawaii’s Tiki cultural phenomenon to the mainstream in post-WWII America. Recieving excellent reviews and ratings, the ambum peaked at #2 on the CMJ Jazz Charts and ranked #1 on JazzWeek World in September. The band features violinist Helen Liu ’03 M.M. ’04 G.D., pianist Zaccai Curtis ’03, ’05 M.M., and special guest, trombonist Mike Dease ’11 D.M.A. Composer Greg Paré ’02 M.M. plays vibes and lends his voice as narrator.  Randy and the WAITIKI 7 are currently featured on a TV spot about entrepreneurs from each of the 50 states. 2010-09-03

 

Sara Leib '03, Jazz PerformanceJazz vocalist Sara Leib ’03 founded Singing Television, a free online video weblog for singers of all types to help them learn how to sing, perform, read, write, or communicate how to sing better. Sara currently lives in Los Angeles, CA. 2010-08-19
