New
Bolivian Visa Requirement for U.S. Citizens
The Government of Bolivia announced on 8 January 2007 that
it will begin requiring visas for all U.S. citizens traveling
to Bolivia as tourists as of an unspecified date in March
of 2007. At present, neither the U.S. Department of State
nor the U.S. Embassy in La Paz has any specific information
as to how this policy will be implemented. For more information,
please contact the Bolivian Embassy in Washington or your
nearest Bolivian Consulate (see http://www.bolivia-usa.org/
for contact information). If you are in Bolivia, please
contact Bolivian Immigration Services at 211-0960. As soon
as we receive any further information about the new visa
policy we will post it on this website.

and Bolivian Governments dedicate tunnel lighting systems
on Cochabamba-Santa Cruz road
Cochabamba,
May 16, 2007 – On May 10, under the cooperation program
for the development of the Cochabamba tropics, Bolivia’s
President Evo Morales and U.S. Ambassador Philip S. Goldberg
dedicated a tunnel lighting system for two tunnels on the
most important road in Bolivia, the Cochabamba-Santa Cruz

SENASAG
launches national fruit fly pest control program
La Paz, May 16, 2007 - This program will protect regions
with high fruit exporting potential. The National Service
of Animal and Plant Health and Food Security (SENASAG),
the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Animal and
Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) launched the National
Fruit Fly Pest Control Program. (More

Western Hemisphere country officials to be part of the Americas
Competitiveness Forum
Washington, May 8, 2007 – U.S. Secretary of Commerce
Carlos Gutierrez announced that three U.S. Cabinet members,
three Vice Presidents of Latin American countries, and high
officials from 20 Western Hemisphere countries have confirmed
their attendance to the opening of the Americas Competitiveness
Forum to be held June 11-12, 2007 in Atlanta, Georgia. (More
