The new soccer governing National Executive Committee

The football governing body in the country will now cease being a limited company and will now be transformed to an association with the new office in place. The new governing body will be referred to as Football Kenya Association and Chairman Sam Nyamweya has said that FKL and KFF will be dissolved with immediate effect.

The new name is only awaiting FIFA approval for it to fall in place.

After a consultative meeting with all the newly elected NEC officials this morning at a Nairobi Hotel, the new officials decided on issues that will be put in place to streamline the running of soccer. The new chair Sam Nyamweya said that they had deliberated to work together to raise the soccer standards in the country back to its place.

“We have resolved as the NEC Members that we are going to work together and forget that we are from different camps. We have also resolved to work hard to get back our country’s game to where it was. We have been to hell and it is now time for us to get oit”, said Nyamweya.

The NEC will constitute representatives from all the 8 provinces and among them are two women. Former AFC Leopards Secretary General Robert Asembo will represent Nairobi, former Harambee Stars media Liason officer Hussein Terry to represent the coast, George Wainaina will be Central’s rep, Angeline Elijah- Eastern, Dorris Petra- Rift Valley, Tom Otieno- Nyanza, Mohammed Mulwa- N. Eastern, Elly Mukolwe- Western.

On top of them, there will be two representatives from the KPL and one from the Nationwide League.

Omondi Aduda has also been appointed as the acting CEO of the Association and will be in office for 90 days on an interim basis.

“We will have Mr Aduda and Mr Ogola who is the outgoing FKL CEO as his deputy. This will allow smooth transition. They will be in office for 90 days before we now make up new structures for office. We have also been instructed by FIFA to make sure a constitution is in place within 90 days and we have already called in a lawyer to help us in that”, said Nyamweya.

He has also instructed the referees and the coaches bodies to undertake their elections for a new harmonised body within the next two months.

The new NEC has also resolved to retain the Harambee Stars Management board though they said that they will have to reconstitute it. However Mr. Evans Kidero will retain his position as the Chairman.

Also retained by the new office is the technical director Patrick Naggi. Standard Newspaper editor Robin Toskin will be the Association’s Media Liason Officer.

The incoming office has also sounded a warning to dubious tournament organisers saying that the association will not allow any tournament to take place without their consent. He says that from today, all tournaments will have to be okayed by the association and will only be limited to the off season.

"All these people who wake up everyday and start organizing tournaments they should now know that we will not allow such kinds of arrangements. Even all these politicians. All tournaments must be given the green light by the association. We are also warning all referees who will officiate in such tournaments that they will be sacked", he warned.
