Indaba Music is seeking an experienced Ruby on Rails developer to join our NYC Web Development team to help us build the next wave of online music tools. Watching our user base climb towards a million registered users is exciting. We're looking for a developer that knows how to write scalable code that will help us push past the 7-digit mark.

Key Responsibilities

• Works with team to design user interface, system architecture and database structure
• Implements interface, business logic and data structure based on requirements, architecture and design
• Review/Re-factor code to improve performance, enhances readability, and maintains system integrity
• Seek out performance bottlenecks and implement strategies to improve performance
• Assists customer support department in addressing and resolving software related issues

Required skills

• 3 years Web Development experience
• 2 years Ruby on Rails experience
• Proficient with LINUX based operating systems
• High level understanding of SQL
• Proficient with MySQL
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services: EC2, S3, EBS, RDS, other initials in the AWS soup
• Familiarity with Cucumber and Rspec

Desired skills

• Ability to work in Agile environment. Flexible enough to chuck Agile when necessary.
• Knowledge of MongoDB. Experience with indexing and sharding, a plus.
• Knowledge of key/value stores, especially Redis.
• Javascript skills, experience with Prototype
• Knowledge of SASS and HAML
