That’s the full text of an e-mail my dad sent me this morning. He’s referring, obviously, to Amazon’s launch of the Kindle lending library for Prime members who own both (he is one of those people, as am I). This program is pretty much totally great news for Kindle owners, and I wanted to take a moment to recognize that before I launch into the rest of this post. Update: Whoa, users aren’t the only ones saying “Holy sh*t” today. Click through for more details on a shockingly ballsy move by Amazon.

Consumers are watching more TV today than ever before, but that increased consumption is rapidly changing with the times. According to a new survey from TVGuide.com and paidContent, a good part of the growth in TV usage—among those who are avid TV watchers already—is coming via online content, time-shifting systems and the use of new devices like tablets. But it also revealed some key insights to the business models behind that growth: a lot of users are skipping ads, although a growing number (but not all) of are willing to pay for their content instead.

Six weeks in, only about half the tablets have sold. Philadelphia Media Network CEO and publisher Gregory Osberg had predicted at launch that all of the tablets would sell out within a week.

Samsung has requested depositions for testimony from four key designers and inventors, including Apple’s SVP of industrial Jony Ive, as part of its defense the case that Apple has brought against it in the U.S.. This is the second time that Samsung has made the request and the deadline for this latest one is December 1, 2011, giving the named people one month to comply.
