The Nokia 6303 has largely been seen as the well overdue replacement to the hugely popular 6300. While it is based mainly on its older brother, both in terms of design and software.

On first impressions, you can clearly see the similarities between the two. The 6303 measures 108.8 x 46.2 x 11.7 mm with the 6300 measuring 106.4 x 43.6 x 11.7 mm, there is very little between them in size terms. The same is also true for weight, with the 6303 only 5g heavier, which is certainly not a huge amount.

Vodafone have released a new SME tariff, which basically allows business an “all you can eat” type tariff. The Vodafone Business Tariff - Wireless Office Control offers businesses a much greater choice and will seriously bring down mobile phone bills, which is great during a recession.

This new tariff will probably appeal to companies with more than 5 phones on their account, due mainly to the €250 per month Customer Level Rental (the company basically). On top of that however, there is a €25 per month charge per subscription.

What you get for your €25 per month per subscription is free calls to all landlines and mobiles anywhere in Ireland. This will appeal to a lot of business, as this gives them access to any number they may ring for only €25 per month.

For an additional €10 per month per subscription, you can have an unlimited Text Add On, to text any network. For another €10 per month, there is also an International Voice Add On, giving unlimited voice calls abroad.

The company has complete freedom as to who can and cannot get the Add Ons above. By giving this freedom, an Add On will not have to be given to a subscription which may not need it, and in doing so increase the spend.

It is important to note, all prices are ex VAT.

The iPhone 3G S is being launched in Ireland on the 26th of June. The new and improved version of the phone which some might argue changed the mobile phone industry will still be an exclusive handset for O2. As of yet, there is no mention of pricing, but more than likely it will be similarly priced to previous versions.

The iPhone 3G S (S is for Speed!) will be available in a 16GB and 32GB version, doing away with the 8GB altogether. Other improvements include a better camera (now a 3.2MP camera). One cool new feature helps you if you lose your new iPhone or if it is stolen. By simply using the Remote Wipe feature, you can wipe all the information stored on your phone, protecting you against someone using your info for some unsavory things!

The long awaited launch of the Ovi Store, Nokia’s very own answer to the iTunes App Store has been launched. Nokia have been trying to play catch-up with Apple since the launch, and success of the iPhone, this is their attempt to innovate some of their products even further.

What Ovi offers is the opportunity of purchase and download games, applications, music, videos, podcasts and other items of interest. This can be donw by simply pointing your compatable Nokia handset to http://store.ovi.com/.

There is no word on how credit card payments can be taken for purchasing items. This will clearly need to be effortless, seeing as how easy and well established the payment process Apple has for its iTunes App Store. Also, there is no indication whether PayPal can be supported.

The Ovi service is available in Ireland. Have a go and let us know what you think.

Absolutely bursting at the seems with features, the Sony Ericsson W995 is going to be a very popular phone indeed. Sony Ericsson must have thrown absolutely everything they have into this phone with the biggest screen ever on a Sony Ericsson feature phone, Wi-Fi, GPS and even a 8 MP camera. This phones appears to have it all.

Not content with being just a CyberShot camera phone, it is also a Walkman phone. It comes equipped with a Walkman 4.0 player with features such as SensMe and Shake control. There is a 3.5mm jack which will allow you to use any headphone you want. This gives you extra freedom and you don’t have to use the ones provided by Sony Ericsson.

Alothough this may not be the nicest phone to look at, its what’s underneath that counts. Such a phone, jammed full of nice little goodies will certainly please the fans of all things Sony Ericsson.

Rumour has it that the next generation of the iPhone is due to be released on June 17th. Information such as specs of the new iPhone have been leaked, giving us an idea of what to expect.

There are one or two notable improvments, such as the memory being increased from 8GB and 16GB to 16GB and 32GB. This increase in memory allows you to store more, which was a bit of a problem with the 8GB. Also, the camera on the back of the handset is now a 3.2 MP, as opposed to the 2 MP camera previously.

Other changes include a new AMOLED display. These are more efficient than the previous LCD display, making battery time longer so you won’t have to charge it everyday.

  • 32GB and 16GB storage (increased from the current 16GB and 8GB models)
  • 3.2-megapixel camera (increased from the current 2-megapixel camera)
  • OLED screen
  • Video-recording and editing capabilities
  • Ability to send a picture & video via MMS
  • RAM and processing power doubled
  • 1.5 times the battery life of the current models
