I bought Orange Box for 360 because all my friends were way more into Console gaming then PC. Then I got sick of Microsoft's shit and bought TF2 a second time on PC. I've yet to spend a single cent in the Mann Co store, and have a huge stockpile of unopened crates to prove it.

I really don't think TF2 counts. MW3 and BF3 are war simulators. They have fairly realistic fighting (ok, I know MW3 really doesn't... but it's more realistic than TF2).

TF2 doesn't even have stuff like going prone, or aiming down your sights. While I love all of these games... they aren't the same thing. At all.

Sometimes I feel like I'm in a very, very small minority of people who do not enjoy TF. I remember playing the Half-Life version, and really enjoying it, but something about it's modern incarnation just did not click for me. My K/D ratio was garbage, and I just didn't seem to be playing effectively or having much fun. Even when I'm getting creamed in Battlefield I still have fun, and still feel like I'm contributing to the game. The art design is fun and all, but it doesn't really inspire any love really. I dunno. I'm not really into multiplayer FPS, except for BC2 and BF3. Maybe they're just flukes for me.

There's a work-a-round about the Origin-BF3 problem. I don't need Origin to run BF3 anymore because Razor1911 made a BF3.exe that eliminated the need of Origin to launch. Also, a workaround has been found for my crashes that I've been having.

I'm still a bit miffed that Valve are now giving away TF2 for free and offering a hat to people that paid for it previously. I bought it not long after it was released and stopped playing a few months later but since I haven't played for so long and don't intend on starting again, the hat is useless to me.

I enjoy both TF2 and BF3, but the two are apples and oranges. There hasn't been a game that has had cohesive vehicular squadplay since BF2... and that was 7 years ago! Conquest is back in full effect, as are large, gorgeous maps.

Vehicles in BFBC2 were too easily taken out (tracer dart rotor + gustav + explosives mod > blackhawk? Ffffffffuuuuuuuuuu), and all the other battlefield hashes didn't really cut it.

I've been having some of the most fun playing BF3 as a teamplay FPS, glitches aside, since 2004 and I'd easily pay another $42 for that (who pays retail price, seriously?).

I paid $50 for HL2 and $17 for DoD, a mod that was free for HL1 and then bought by Valve and released for Source. DoD:S had less content than DoD 3.1, cutting many of the weapons and maps. I paid money for a graphics update of a shittier version. Also, DoD:S was basically abandoned while there was still a large community and it began to dwindle as it got older and more obvious that Valve wasn't going to do shit like reintroduce all the weapons and maps they stripped.

Later, I paid another $50 for the HL2 Orange Box, because I'd be damned if I paid $20 for yet another mod, so I got the episodes that I never touched (only bought HL1/2 for the multiplayer and mods) and Portal which was an alright time waster. Then I watched TF2 get changed from a decent team based shooter into a parody of team based shooters with hats, cash shops, and eventually made free.

In retrospect, maybe it's a good thing Valve didn't support DoD:S as I would have raged much harder if I watched them mutilate one of my favorite mods w/ hats and mmo mechanics.

BF3/285 drivers literally killed my video card yesterday.

luckily its an EVGA but stilll wtf. Sadly, Im not the only one this has hapened to either. Fucking nvidias drivers superOC'd it to hell and fried it. I tried playing the game with my old ass 4850 but even with everything set to low, 720p, i7, SSD and 12GB DDR3, I never get more than 30 FPS so its completely unplayable where as the 560TI it ran at max everything, 1080 at a constant 60 FPS (vsync on of course)

Its a shame really, because its a really goddamn good game despite the VOIP shitfest and no commander

Because you can fly a jet, fly a helicopter, have a surreal omfg moment watching your squad pour out of your personnel carrier, drive a tank, watch all of the above explode in a glorious fireball, call in artillery strikes, fire mortars, play co-op game modes, have pimp stat tracking, and use killstreaks to lay waste to your enemies in TF2 amirite?

I happen to own TF2, it's a decent game, it is not the best game ever made. Fact of the matter is more people would rather play MW3 and BF3. To each their own.
