HIDE
Tim Hetherington (1970 - 2011)
Tim Hetherington, the Oscar-nominated director of the 2010 documentary
Restrepo
and winner of the prestigious World Press Photo award in 2007, was killed in Misrata, Libya, on April 20, 2011 during a firefight between rebels and supporters of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. (Award-winning photographer Chris Hondros was killed in Misrata that same day.) Born in Britain, based in Brooklyn, Hetherington spent much of his career chronicling and putting a human face on the often incomprehensibly inhumane in human conflict. Here, from a life filled with extraordinary work, some of Hetherington's most astonishing photos.
