Important Notice about Cookies
The law relating to cookies changes on 26th May 2011. The new rules
require that cookies can only be placed on machines where the user
has given their consent.
How does BBC Worldwide use cookies?
Cookies allow us to tailor our websites to you. For example, if
you have customised your home page, we use cookies to store
information about your preferred layout. We also use cookies
for analytical purposes. Information supplied by cookies can help
us to analyse the profile of our visitors and help us to provide
you with a better user experience.
Certain areas of BBC Worldwide websites use a specific type of
cookie, called flash cookies, for particular functions - for
example, to help an online game work effectively on your device.

more information about flash cookies.
Many of our websites carry advertising. A certain amount of
this advertising is tailored to the individual user. This
"onsite behavioural targeting" uses cookies to discover general
information about the pages you visit. The tracking system is
anonymised and therefore it does not know who you are: it simply
uses the limited information available to it to serve ads to you
which it believes are relevant. Click here for more
information about the
use of onsite behavioural targeting
.
You can find a list of the main cookies that our websites set
(and what each is used for) at
BBC Worldwide's Cookie list and how to reject cookies.
How will BBC Worldwide comply with the law change?
The government's view is that there should be a phased approach
to the implementation of these changes. Over the summer, we will be
working on developing the best methods for obtaining your
consent.
In the meantime, you can control cookies by setting your device
to notify you when a cookie is issued, or not to receive cookies at
any time. We will ensure that we continue to provide you with clear
and comprehensive information about the cookies we use, so that you
can make informed decisions.
