South African entertainment channel NSAT has ceased broadcasting.

The channel, which went on air in August last year had been facing financial difficulties in running the service and went off air shortly after midnight on Thursday morning.

NSAT was looking at turning into a subscription based channel and broadcasting round the clock later this year but the latest problem makes all this unlikely. NSAT is available on EPG 837 and broadcasting a black screen with a signal tone.
