'How drinking damaged my liver'

Help

Liver specialists in the north-east of England have warned they are treating what they have described as an "epidemic" of alcohol-related liver disease.

Latest figures suggest there has been a 400% increase in the number of people under 35 admitted to hospital in the region with the condition since 2002.

Just 10 years ago it was unusual for anyone under the age of 50 to be treated for alcoholic cirrhosis.

Fiona Trott spoke to Joanne Patterson who says her health has been ruined by drinking from an early age.
