About the ELCJHL Congregational Ministries Fund

The six congregations of the ELCJHL have a long history of service within the Palestinian community. As natural outgrowths of the diaconal ministries of the Lutheran Church, the congregations have always existed organically within their communities

Today the six ELCJHL congregations serve not only their 3,000 members, but also their communities. The six congregations of the ELCJHL are:

• The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beit Sahour
• The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hope in Ramallah
• The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Jerusalem
• The Evangelical Lutheran Christmas Church in Bethlehem
• The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Reformation in Beit Jala
• The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Amman, Jordan

The ELCJHL Congregations are integrally interwoven into the educational ministries of the ELCJHL. They are also all deeply invested in their communities. And, leading by example, the ELCJHL continues to promote issues of gender equality, peace education, and ecumenical and interfaith dialogue.

But high unemployment and underemployment rates in the impeded econom        y of the West Bank make it difficult for the congregational ministries of the ELCJHL to be fully self-sustaining at present.

Your gift toward the Congregational Ministries of the ELCJHL helps our congregations in their continuing ministry to provide community programs and social assistance to those in need, regardless of gender, race, or religion.

There are many Global Gift options through the ELCA, and so following the instructions below will ensure that your gift gets to the ELCJHL Congregational Ministries Fund as quickly and smoothly as possible:

• Make your check payable to "The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America"
• On the memo line of your check write "ELCJHL Congregational Ministries Fund - Global Gift"
• Along with your check send a letter that includes the following information:
  • Your name and address
  • The dollar amount of your gift
  • The designation of your gift to:  "ELCJHL Congregational Ministries Fund - Global Gift"
• Send all of the above to:
