- Jobs Cain’s jobs plan relies primarily on his "9-9-9" tax plan, which calls for a nine percent tax on sales, personal income and corporate income. He has also suggested creating “opportunity zones” in economically depressed areas.
- Taxes Cain's "9-9-9" plan calls for the abolition of the current federal tax code, which would be replaced by a nine percent tax on sales, personal income and corporate income.
- Budget Cain has said he would look to every area of the government for cuts, but has no specific budget plan. He was also a signatory to the "Cut, Cap and Balance" pledge calling for a cap on the level of government spending, and a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution.

- Energy/Environment Cain would loosen regulations on domestic energy exploration, and eliminate subsidies for agricultural products, including ethanol.
- Abortion Cain considers himself "100% pro-life," and pledged to veto legislation containing funding for Planned Parenthood. He also pledged to appoint judges who share his view that there's no right to abortion in the Constitution. He has said, though, that he doesn't believe the president has the authority to order a woman to not to have an abortion.
- Same-sex marriage Cain has said he believes homosexuality is a sin, but has said he wouldn't seek a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage. He would leave the issue to the states.
