• Dawson set for January return for Tottenham

Michael Dawson in action for Spurs against Manchester United

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has been given a major boost with the news that Michael Dawson is set to return from injury early in the New Year.

Dawson has not played since the 5-1 defeat to Manchester City on August 28 after suffering a setback in his recovery from an Achilles' tendon injury.

But Redknapp has penciled in a return early in the New Year

"Michael could be back in early January," said Redknapp. "He's getting there, he's back outside running now and he is coming on well."

But while the news is good on Dawson, it's less optimistic surrounding a return to action for Tom Huddlestone, who is suffering from an ankle injury.

Redknapp added: "With Tom, at the moment it's just sort of 'wait and see' a bit. It's going to be a longer job for him."

You surely wouldn't rather that Spurs spend a fortune on Cahill than have Dawson back would you?

Once again I am so pleased that HR is in charge rather than a lot of the fans that post on these boards.

please no. i'm sick of seeing this guy getting caught out of position and having to put up with with aimless long balls. the guy has no composure and is a liability. the only reason people think he is good is because he likes to "be brave" and "throws his body in the way"....the only reason he has to do this is because his positional awareness is ridiculously poor. sell him....and get rid of defoe and jenas whilst we are at it
