FAIRBANKS—The Fairbanks Grizzlies are set to announce their new head coach on Tuesday, according to a press release Thursday from the Indoor Football League team.

Rick Quinn, Grizzlies co-owner and director, said the new coach will be announced in a press release. Quinn said the new coach has coaching experience in the IFL and is familiar with Fairbanks.

“We wanted to keep our objectives as good as we can or better,” Quinn said.

The new coach is replacing Sean Ponder, who resigned in September after a two-season stint which he compiled a 17-14 record, including a 1-2 mark in the IFL playoffs.

The new head coach will be the third for the Grizzlies, who are entering their fourth season. The team spent its inaugural season in the Intense Football League.

The Grizzlies are also scheduled to announced 2011 schedule during the next few days.

Season tickets are on sale, with the Alaska Permanent Dividend special in effect through the end of October. For more information, call 452-5123.
