The issue is not the price of quinoa. The inflated price of quinoa actually benefits Central and South American countries (increasing their GDP). The issue is that there is little nutrition education in those countries and the local peoples are choosing more processed "American" foods with their money rather than something as well-rounded as quinoa. Personally, I think they should be allowed to spend their money as they see fit (Yay Capitalism), but there does need to be more education worldwide about what we put in our bodies.
