Casting News: The Good Wife, Castle and The Client List

Wednesday January 4, 2012

Jonathan GroffNow that production has once again resumed on most shows, casting is well underway as a few familiar faces prepare to keep us entertained in the coming months...

  • We love Jonathan Groff on Glee, but it looks like us Gleeks will have to share the talented singer as he heads over to The Good Wife for an episode later this season. According to TV Line, Groff will appear in episode 15 as Jimmy, a man who is suing a software company he believes is responsible for the disappearance of his sister in Syria. Groff is also set to return to Glee later this season as the new director of Vocal Adrenaline.
  • During his hiatus from Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva, Josh Stamberg is keeping himself busy by signing on for a two-episode gig during February Sweeps on Castle as an intelligence officer assisting Castle and Beckett find a rogue CIA agent suspected of murder.
  • Lifetime's upcoming drama The Client List, a series based on the made-for-TV movie of the same name, has signed Cybill Shepard reprise her role as Lynette, the mother of Jennifer Love Hewitt's (who also starred in the movie) character. Former Playboy Club star Naturi Naughton has also signed on to play Kendra, an employee at The Rub. The series (which has made some changes from the movie) centers around a Texas housewife trying to make ends meet after her husband leaves her and opens up a massage parlor that is actually a front for a prostitution ring. An Interview with Allie Gonino (Laurel, The Lying Game)

Monday January 2, 2012

Allie GoninoThese days, it's not often that parents and their teenagers can enjoy a series together and although the shows on ABC Family may be geared towards the teen demographic, there are quite a few adults who enjoy the many great dramas the network has to offer.

Last summer, ABC Family introduced The Lying Game, another great drama based on a popular book series written by Sara Shepard (the author of the Pretty Little Lairs series). The story revolves around identical twin sisters who have recently found each other. They decide to go in search of their birth mother, but must switch identities for a little while. Needless to say, their plans go completely awry and the mystery builds from there.

From an early age, Allie Gonino dove head first into the performing arts and only recently tried her hand at acting. This lucky young lady didn't have to wait long before nabbing her first starring role in The Lying Game. I had the pleasure of speaking with Allie, who plays Laurel Mercer (Sutton's sister), about her life before acting as a dancer and singer, her role on the show and how she keeps in touch with her fans...

Coming Soon: Alcatraz

Friday December 30, 2011

Alcatraz CastIt's one of the most anticipated midseason dramas (and my favorite of the bunch) -- after endless promotion, Alcatraz is finally coming to a living room near you. Welcome to your newest obsession...

Premise: In 1963, Robert F Kennedy ordered Alcatraz to be closed permanently, but 246 prisoners and 53 guards suddenly disappeared. More than 50 years later, San Francisco detective Rebecca Madsen finds the fingerprints of former Alcatraz prisoner Jack Sylvane at the scene of a homicide... a man who has been supposedly dead since 1976 and hasn't aged a day in more than 50 years.

When her investigation is impeded by government agent Emerson Hauser, Rebecca enlists the help of Alcatraz expert Doc Soto (played by Lost fan favorite Jorge Garcia). Impressed by Rebecca and Doc's resourcefulness, Hauser hires them to help him track down the other missing prisoners before the secrets of what happened at Alcatraz more than 50 years ago is exposed.

Get to know more about Alcatraz and the characters on the show before it premieres on Monday, January 16 on Fox.

Is it Time to Break Up With Your Favorite Drama?

Monday December 26, 2011

Desperate HousewivesAre episodes of one of your shows taking up an unusually large amount of room on your DVR? Has the excitement gone out of one or more of your dramas? Do you find yourself hoping the show will finally be put out of its misery and canceled? It may be time to begin thinking about parting ways with your formally favorite drama.

Do you remember the days when you would race to the television to catch your favorite show and then forbid everyone in your house to utter a word until it was over? If you've watched a show for many years, unless it has kept you on the edge of your seat, chances are you've grown tired of it and may be watching it out of loyalty and/or habit, or just simply because you want to see how it'll end.

Here are some telltale signs that will help determine if the time has come to break up with your favorite show -- and how to keep tabs on it without wasting your precious viewing time.
