About the Public Affairs Division

The Public Affairs Division is the department’s central communication arm. Through news releases, interviews, fact sheets, Web pages and other outreach materials, we help the public understand department programs and services. We work with the media to encourage public understanding of the state’s agriculture industry, and alert the public about items of consumer interest, such as food recalls and retail price-scanner problems. We also staff the press office at the annual N.C. State Fair and assist other divisions with event planning and crisis communications.

Public Affairs serves as the central point of contact for the news media. We can find answers for reporters, or put them in touch with people who have the answers.

In addition, the division publishes the Agricultural Review, the department’s free newspaper that contains articles of interest to the agricultural community. The paper is published 11 times a year.
