Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a tale of playing hooky and causing mayhem. Ferris Bueller is the slick kid who gets away with everything, and he decides that today he's going to get away with skipping school. His jealous sister, Jeanie, will do anything to turn him in, but she can't seem to catch him. After rigging a very sly device to make his family think he's still in bed, he heads off for his big day with his best friend, Cameron Frye, and his girlfriend, Sloane Peterson. First they snag Cameron's father's Ferrari and drive into downtown Chicago. They visit the Art Institute, the Sears Tower, and Wrigley Field. Meanwhile the students back at the school have heard of Ferris' terrible illness and have started collecting for a "Save Ferris" fund. The school principal, Ed Rooney doesn't believe the story and goes looking for Ferris, only to end up in an altercation with Jeanie. The day looks like it will be a celebration of freedom, joy, and recklessness until it someone figures out Ferris' scheme.
